"Visit Magic Kingdom Park during the first hour of opening or the last two hours before closing to enjoy shorter lines for popular rides; the crowds tend to be smaller during these times. Also, be sure to catch the daily Festival of Fantasy Parade from a less crowded spot behind the Christmas Shop in Liberty Square, where you can enjoy great views without the Main Street crowds."

History of Magic Kingdom Park

Magic Kingdom opened its doors on October 1, 1971, as the first of four theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort. It was designed and built by WED Enterprises (now Walt Disney Imagineering), the masterminds behind Disneyland in California. Visionary Walt Disney had a dream to create a park that was even bigger and more magical than Disneyland, but sadly, he passed away in 1966 before seeing the culmination of his vision.

The park was dedicated in a grand ceremony, and since its opening, it has gone through numerous expansions and redesigns. Each land within the park holds its own history of evolution, constantly incorporating new technology and stories to ensure that the magic never grows old.
