What is Jaguar Rescue Center?
The Jaguar Rescue Center is a haven of rehabilitation for injured, orphaned, and displaced wildlife, situated on the verdant and vibrant Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, near Puerto Viejo. This rescue center is not a zoo but a healing place where animals are nurtured with the goal to release them back into their natural habitats. Visitors have the extraordinary opportunity to witness the recuperation and care of a wide variety of wildlife, including its namesake jaguars, although seeing a jaguar is quite rare, as the center focuses on a broader spectrum of animals.

History of Jaguar Rescue Center
The seeds for the Jaguar Rescue Center were sown when its founders, Primatologist Sandro and his wife Biologist Encar, settled in Costa Rica and began taking in sick and injured animals. They found a dire need for a safe space to care for these creatures, and thus, the center was born in 2008. Over time, their modest operations grew in reputation and scope, as they steadfastly worked towards rehabilitation and, when possible, successful reintegration of the animals into their native habitats.
It started with just a few animals but has since expanded to accommodate a myriad of species thanks to the support from volunteers, donations, and visitors. The personal commitment of the founders and their team has shaped the center into an exemplary rescue and rehabilitation facility that harmonizes perfectly with the country's ethos of conservation and respect for nature.
